Bas-Sassandra department [capital = San Pedro]

Tai National Park in Dogbo
This park is one of the last major remnants of the primary tropical forest of West Africa. Its rich natural flora, and threatened mammal species such as the pygmy hippopotamus and 11 species of monkeys, are of great scientific interest.

Mosque in Tingrela
The Mosquée de Tengréla, a small adobe mosque in the city possibly dating from the 17th century, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2021 along with other mosques in the region for its outstanding representation of Sudano-Sahelian architecture.
Mosque in Kouto
The town is known for its seventeenth century Sahelian mosque.
Mosque in M'bengue
Nambira village within the sub-prefecture is known for its adobe mosque, built in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Mosque in Kaouara
Particularly from the 16th century, the style spread south from the desert regions into the Sudanese savannah, becoming lower and developing stouter buttresses in response to the wetter climate.

Despite the Kong Empire's fall from power, their seventeenth century landmark Kong Friday Mosque survived. In the 20th century, Kong was largely rebuilt in a traditional earthen Sahelian architecture style.

The property thus constitutes an outstanding example of transitional habitat between the forest and the savanna. The variety of the habitats engenders a wide diversity of wildlife species.
Mosque in Sorobango
In accordance with Sudanese tradition, the building is made of banco bricks (a mixture of clay macerated with straw, rice husks and possibly shea butter for waterproofing) supported by wooden beams (also period) inserted in the walls.
