°Cathedral at °Plaza de Armas
° The cathedral's construction began in 1559 on the foundations of Kiswarkancha. It is shaped like a Latin cross. The location of Viracocha's palace was chosen for the purpose of removing the Inca religion from Cusco, and replacing it with Spanish Catholic Christianity.

°Main Square at °Plaza de Armas
° The Spanish built stone arcades around the plaza which endure to this day. The main cathedral and the Church of La Compañía both open directly onto the plaza.

°The Company of Jesus Church at °Plaza De Armas
° This church, whose construction was initiated by the Jesuits in 1576 on the foundations of the Amarucancha or the palace of the Inca ruler Wayna Qhapaq, is considered one of the best examples of colonial baroque style in the Americas.

°Church and Convent of Our Lady of Mercy at °Mantas 121
° Its cloisters of Baroque Renaissance style, choir stalls, colonial paintings and wood carvings are highlights, now a popular museum.

°Church of Santo Domingo at °Ahuacpinta 659-A
° Construction took most of a century. This is one of numerous sites where the Spanish incorporated Inca stonework into the structure of a colonial building. Major earthquakes severely damaged the church, but the Inca stone walls, built out of huge, tightly interlocking blocks of stone, still stand due to their sophisticated stone masonry.

°Qorikancha at °Santo Domingo
° Mostly destroyed after the 16th century war with the Spanish conquistadors much of its stonework forms the foundation of the Santo Domingo church and convent.

° It has beautiful altarpieces admirably restored and preserved. We can say that in the temple city, is one of the best kept indoors and wisely saved.

°Temple of la Almudena at °Huayra Calle 310
° The church has the cover, foundations and overlays of lime and stone; the walls are masonry with carved stone arches, the vaults are brick. It is of a single ship, of rectangular plant.
