Blekinge county [capital = Karlskrona]

Naval Port of Karlskrona see detail
Karlskrona is an outstanding example of a late-17th-century European planned naval city. The original plan and many of the buildings have survived intact, along with installations that illustrate its subsequent development up to the present day.

Dalarna county [capital = Falun]

Copper Mountain in Falun @
The enormous mining excavation known as the Great Pit at Falun is the most striking feature of a landscape that illustrates the activity of copper production in this region since at least the 13th century. The 17th-century planned town of Falun with its many fine historic buildings, together with the industrial and domestic remains of a number of settlements spread over a wide area of the Dalarna region, provide a vivid picture of what was for centuries one of the world's most important mining areas.

Gavleborg county [capital = Gavle]

With its elegant roof and large yellow painted fassade, the main building had the appearance of a manor. Over time, the yellow turned red. The interior decoration of the reception room, made by a group of Rattvik painters known as "Knutesmalarna", is also typical of the 19th century manor houses, with very clear colors.

In addition to the main building, the site also includes a shed, a barn and other utility buildings. Most of these buildings have red-painted walls.

Besides the residential buildings, the farm includes a barn with a shed, an attic and a forge. All these buildings are made of wooden logs. The interior of the residential buildings has wallpaper and painted frescoes depicting castles like Ekebyhov or the Rosersberg Palace.

Gotland county [capital = Visby]

A former Viking site on the island of Gotland, Visby was the main centre of the Hanseatic League in the Baltic from the 12th to the 14th century. Its 13th-century ramparts and more than 200 warehouses and wealthy merchants' dwellings from the same period make it the best-preserved fortified commercial city in northern Europe.

Halland county [capital = Halmstad]

The Varberg Radio Station at Grimeton in southern Sweden (built 1922–24) is an exceptionally well-preserved monument to early wireless transatlantic communication. It consists of the transmitter equipment, including the aerial system of six 127-m high steel towers. Although no longer in regular use, the equipment has been maintained in operating condition.

Jamtland county [capital = Ostersund]

During the 18th and 19th centuries, the hometown grew into one of the richest in the area. Therefore, the farm's residents were able to cost themselves to build the resident manor house on two floors. Upstairs there is a banquet hall of the type that is unique to heathlands, with motifs painted by Bäck Anders Hansson from Rättvik.

Kalmar county [capital = Kalmar]

Agricultural Landscape of Southern Oland in Morbylanga
The present agricultural landscape and the community of southern Öland have a unique cultural tradition which still exists in land use, land division, place names, settlement and biological diversity as far back as the Iron Age.

Norrbotten county [capital = Lulea]

The wooden houses of the church town, huddled around the late 15th-century stone church, were used only on Sundays and in conjunction with religious festivals as temporary overnight housing for worshippers from the surrounding countryside, whose journeys home involved travelling long distances under difficult climatic conditions in a harsh natural environment.

Peravaara is situated approximately 25 km northwest of Haparanda in the vicinity of Karungi on a forested hill. From a small road, there is a 400-metre marked walk to the point, which is marked by a cross.

The mountain Pullinki which is part of the World Heritage Struve's meridian arch and which was used as a measuring point in Maupertu's graduation survey in 1736.

These marks take different forms: small holes drilled in rock surfaces, and sometimes filled with lead; cross-shaped engraved marks on rock surfaces; solid stone or brick with a marker inset; rock structures (cairns) with a central stone or brick marked by a drilled hole; individual bricks; as well as especially constructed 'monuments' to commemorate the point and the arc.

Laponian Area in Gallivare + Jokkmokk + Arjeplog
The Laponian Area, located in northernmost Sweden, is a magnificent wilderness of high mountains, primeval forests, vast marshes, beautiful lakes and well-preserved river systems. It contains areas of exceptional beauty such as the snow-covered mountains of Sarek, the large alpine lakes of Padjelanta/Badjelannda, and the extensive rSiver delta in the Rapa Valley. On-going geological, biological and ecological processes have formed a variety of habitats conserving a rich biodiversity, including many species of fauna and flora typical of the northern Fennoscandian region.

Stockholm county [capital = Stockholm]

Skogskyrkogarden, located south of central Stockholm, Sweden, is an outstanding early 20th century cemetery. Its design blends vegetation and architectural elements, taking advantage of irregularities in the site to create a landscape that is finely adapted to its function.
Royal Domain in Drottningholm on Ekerovagen
With its castle, perfectly preserved theatre (built in 1766), Chinese pavilion and gardens, it is the finest example of an 18th-century north European royal residence inspired by the Palace of Versailles.
Archaeological site in Hovgarden on Hovgardsvagen
At Hovgarden some 124 graves have been found; the oldest from late Roman Iron Age (1-400 CE) and the youngest from the beginning of the Middle Ages (c. 1050-1520), indicating the area has been settled uninterruptedly throughout this period.

The remains are both burial-sites and buildings, and in the south part of this area, there is also a hill fort called "Borgen" ("The Fortress").

Vasternorrland county [capital = Harnosand]

High Coast Archipelago from Norrfallsviken to Malmon
The Archipelago is continuously rising from the sea in a process of rapid glacio-isostatic uplift, whereby the land, previously weighed down under the weight of a glacier, lifts at rates that are among the highest in the world. As a consequence islands appear and unite, peninsulas expand, and lakes evolve from bays and develop into marshes and peat fens. The High Coast has also been largely shaped by the combined processes of glaciation, glacial retreat and the emergence of new land from the sea. Since the last retreat of the ice from the High Coast 9,600 years ago, the uplift has been in the order of 285 m which is the highest known ''rebound''.

Vastra Gotaland county [capital = Goteborg]

The rock carvings in Tanum, in the north of Bohuslan, are a unique artistic achievement not only for their rich and varied motifs (depictions of humans and animals, weapons, boats and other subjects) but also for their cultural and chronological unity. They reveal the life and beliefs of people in Europe during the Bronze Age and are remarkable for their large numbers and outstanding quality.
