the resort
Placencia Village in Southern Belize,
home of Michelo's, is located on the Placencia peninsula, which is fast becoming
the "Key West" of the western Caribbean for holiday and retirement residence.
This old fishing village is the home of numerous resorts, hotels and guesthouses.
Placencia Village cabanas along the famous sidewalk create a colorful patchwork of shops
and restaurants. Everything is within walking distance in the village: banks, tour
operators, grocery stores, restaurants, sport bars, coffee shops, a famous Italian ice
cream parlour and a healing and meditation dome for spiritual rejuvenation in symbiosys
with the adjacent Mayan culture. Live entertainment and a disco create a festive night life.
Further up the penisula there are an airport with multiple daily flights to Belize City,
the majority of the larger resorts, different harbours with sea going vessels for charter, a
bowling, a mini-golf and tennis courts.
The Placencia peninsula has the largest beach on Belize mainland and is strategically
located for land tours in the south and sea tours on the Barrier Reef.
